All these houses didn’t have electricity and sewage even 50 years ago. Heck, even most city houses did’t have toilet and bathroom in every flat. If someone said I’m going next door, it means that he/she is going to the toilet because it was outside the house

I have been to pretty much all parts of China. I have seen houses that were perfectly suitable to be modernized and yet got torn down and at the same spot they built an crappy ugly looking concrete monster void of any culture.

文化和品位是需要时间沉淀的，1980年的时候，中国农村大部分人都吃不饱，35年过去，有点钱后新修了房子，修得不够艺术感，甚至丑陋在所难免。
