韩国国会立法调查处近日预测称：“如果生育率持续走低，700年后韩国人将在地球上绝迹。”此言一出立刻引发舆论热议。

韩国2013年每千人中新生婴儿仅有8.6人，是1970年开始统计以来的最低水平。韩国统计厅分析称，导致这种现象的原因是29岁至33岁育龄人口的初婚年龄越来越大，选择生二胎的人也日趋减少。

韩国国会立法调查处称，如果韩国生育率没有增长，且不考虑移民政策变化等因素，韩国现有的5000万人口将会在2134年锐减到1000万，2750年韩国人将会在地球上灭绝。其中，南部港口城市釜山将会第一个成为“空城”，最后一批“釜山人”将于2413年出生。
