WASHINGTON: The United States charged on Friday that a Chinese fighter pilot conducted a “dangerous intercept” of a navy patrol plane in international air space this week, flying a few yards (meters) from the US jet and performing acrobatic maneuvers around it.
Rear Admiral John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the United States lodged a formal diplomatic protest with Beijing over the incident, which took place on Tuesday 135 miles (215 km) east of Hainan Island, site of a sensitive Chinese submarine base.
8月22日，美国指控中国战机飞行员本周在国际空域对美国一架海军巡逻机进行了一次“危险拦截”，当时距离美国飞机只有几码之远，并在其周围表演了杂技动作。

Kirby said the Chinese fighter jet made several passes at the P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine and reconnaissance plane, crossing over and under it. At one point, the jet flew wingtip-to-wingtip about 10 yards (9 meters) from the Poseidon, then performed a barrel roll over the top of it, he said.
“The Chinese jet also passed the nose of the P-8 at 90 degrees with its belly toward the P-8 Poseidon, we believe to make a point of showing its weapons load,” Kirby said.

If 2001 case, a Chinese supersonic fighter J8 circled a slow EP3 and after few round, hit it when Chinese pilot pass over too close and cannot avoid a collision, Chinese J8 fighter fallen and the pilot missing in action.
EP3 crew in danger situation too and must emergency land to Hainan as the J8 made heavy damage to EP-3.

2001年，中国一架超音速歼8战机绕着低速飞行的美国EP3侦察机飞了几圈，由于飞得太近而撞上了。结果，歼8战机坠落，飞行员失踪。EP3侦察机严重受损，只好在海南岛迫降。

Oh that case? I read an article about how China stripped off the EP3 and couldn’t put it back in one piece, so they delayed returning it to US in 2 months, then finally when they did, the plane was in pieces, with many missing parts.
我看过一篇文章说，中国对EP3侦察机大卸八块，都没法组装起来了，拖延两个月才交付，而且交付的时候飞机是一块块的，很多零件失踪了。
